* Hand sanitisers and Covid Cleaning
They will remain and we would ask that you use them when entering the pub. Wewill continue with our robust cleaning routine.
* Track and Trace QR Codes.
They will still be there for you to use on our menus and displayed around the pub. We are now not legally required to force you to give us your details. So it is up to if you want to do so.
* Face Coverings.
We would prefer that you wore your masks to move around the pub other than that it is up to you. You may see some of our team wearing masks some not as we have left it to their descretion. If you would like your server to wear a mask, they will not be offended, ask nicely and they will oblige.
* Seating inside the pub.
We will not be changing the lay out much. We may turn the odd table around and make the odd table bigger.
They must stay seated and supervised at all times.
* The Bar.
You will be able to order your drinks at tge bar. Once you have your drinks you will need to move away from the bar and back to your seat. For now there will one area of the bar that you can sit at. There will be no bar stools anywhere except at that area and the plinths around the pub. If any bar stools are moved to the area marked no bar stools, service only, they will be removed.
* Table Service.
We will be still offering table service inside The Pub, The Marquee and out front. To the rear of the pub there is a bell for drinkers to ring to gain the attention of the Team. Please be patient if the do not arrive immediately. If you are eating at the rear of the pub you will have table service as a matter of course. Obviously at busy times this area will have a dedicated member of the Team.
* Social Distancing.
We would be grateful if you would exercise this whilst inside the pub and when approaching our Team and other customers
We are asking you to please take into consideration other customers and our Team. What ever your thoughts are on this situation we find ourselves in, some people are a little more wary and others, vunerable. So please treat each other with Respect and Kindness.
We have a ZERO tolerance policy to abuse to our Team, Customers & House Rules.

Pop in and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere of a tradition pub. Choose from a wide selection of beers, wines, and spirits, and sample our freshly prepared food. The Specials menu varies throughout the year as our experienced chef makes the most of seasonal ingredients.
Unlike many modern-day pubs, we’re rather keen on games! In the bar, you’ll find bar billiards and bar skittles, as well as board games such as Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, chess, backgammon, crib, and shove ha’penny. If you enjoy a bit of competition, you might be interested in joining the Shoulder of Mutton crib team.
We have an outdoor pétanque court, too. Why come along and join the pub team! Our two annual pétanque tournaments are great fun.
Live music is very much a part of life, here at the Mutton. Keep an eye on our Events page so as not to miss out on gigs, jam sessions, and charity music events.
The Shoulder of Mutton is within walking distance of Strumpshaw Hall and its famous Steam Museum, where you can see the UK’s largest collection of steam engines and fairground memorabilia. Strumpshaw Hall offers year-round camping facilities, providing wonderful opportunities for ramblers and bird watchers.
Strumpshaw Fen RSPB Nature Reserve is also just a short walk away.
We look forward to your visit. And don’t forget – dogs are welcome!
